Living Out East & On The Bay Magazine has changed its name to iving On The Suncoast Magazine. It is published in Lakewood Ranch, Florida by Business Legend Builders, a division of Heuristics Business Help, Inc. We are in a green-certified building and our company is a Master-Velev Green Certified Business by the Manatee Chamber of Commerce.
Our mission is to over the people, places and ideas of our great region with verve, independence and accuracy.
We also believe in supporting local businesses so our magazine is printed and mailed in Florida.
Who We Are
Our staff members are experienced in their fields and also share a commitment to the community. As residents, we are also personally involved with this area and care about our neighbors.
Virginia Orenstein, Co-Publisher and CFO. Virginia is the CFO of our parent company, Heuristics Business Help Inc. and has been the CFO of a major Stainless Steel producer, a multinational tire company and a large building products distributor.
She has a B.A. in accounting and graduate work from Kent State University and is an Ohio CPA (inactive.)
Mother of two and grandmother of seven, she is the Board Chair of Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee and serves on the board of The Lakewood Ranch Hospital Auxiliary and the local chapter of Zonta.
Jeffrey R. Orenstein, Co-Publisher and Executive Editor. A retired political science professor, he has been the exercutive editor of the Gulf Coast Business Review, Communications Manager for SMR, the developer of Lakewood Ranch, and Executive Editor of Around the Ranch.
He has a B.A. from Ohio State and an M.A. and Ph.D from the University of Wisconsin.
He started Doctors Health Journal and 2004 and Living Out East in 2005.
He is on the board of the Foundation for State College of Florida, The U.S. F. Institute for Public Policy and Leaderership, The Florida Railroad Experience and the CAC of the Sarasota-Manatee Metropolitan Planning Organization.
He and VIrginia live in Lakewood Ranch.
Jamie Aymerich is our Vice President. Formerly V.P. with Sarasota Magazine and Biz 941, she brings many years of publishing skills to our team. She oversees new business development and special projects.
Aymerich earned her bachelor’s degree in business from the Rochester Institute of Technology and her master’s degree in Technology Management and Career and Human Resource Development, also from RIT.
Aymerich has formed numerous strategic relationships in the Sarasota business and non-profit community. She serves on the board of the Women's Resource Center and the St. Armands Circle Association. She also sits on the Asolo corporate committee, the Sarasota Chamber of Commerce Small Business Council, is the chapter leader for the RIT Southwest Florida Alumni group and the Buffalo Gals group. She and her husband Ray live in East Manatee County.
Sondra Guffey, Editor. Sondra is our chief editor. Sondra is also a producer and public relations coordinator. Previously, she was V.P. of Communications for SMR, the developer of Lakewood Ranch and has 14 years experience as a journalist working with The Business Radio Network, Hillsborough Television, WUSF Radio, Channel 10 TV in Tampa/St. Petersburg and Bay News 9 TV.
She has a B.A. from Wheaton College and an M.B.A. from DeVry University.
Her non-profit involvement includes Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, Humane Society of Manatee County, Lake Osprey Cabaret and Manatee Educational Television (METV). She is on the advisory board of the Lakewood Ranch YMCA and the Manatee Ambassadors for Tidewell Hospice. She’s the mother of Garrett, a student at State College of Florida, and Jack and Hope two uneducable Jack Russell Terriers.
Jane Jule, Marketing Manager. Jane has a B. A, from Florida State University and an M.B.A. from Embry-Riddle University.
She has worked for several Fortune 500 Companies and has over 30 years experience in Sales, Marketing and Promotion.
She is very active in the community as a co-founder of the Lakewood Ranch Professional Women’s Networking Group, active in the Lakewood Ranch Business Alliance and Manatee and Sarasota Chambers of Commerce. She is in the 2011-12 Leadership Manatee class.
A lifelong resident of Florida, she lives out east.
Mary McGavic, Creative Diretor. Mary has owned the Creative Spark design studio since 1994. Her primary focus is on Project Management and Graphic Design, but she also does concept development, art direction and marketing.
She has created hundreds of school library books, dozens of magazines and other publications, and zillions of advertisements as well as brochures, posters, conference materials and more.
She enjoys traveling, boating, reading and video production. From California, she lives out east with her husband, Andy, and their kids, Alex and Ridge.
Mary has a B.A. in Journalism & Marketing from California State University at Long Beach and an AA in business from Saddleback College, Mission Viejo, CA
Teresa Tyrell, New Media Coordinator is developing new media for our enterprise and the administrator of Citi-Revealed.
She has a long and distinguished career in broadcasting and developed one of the pioneer media partenership sites in the country. She and her husband, Tim, live out east. Teresa joined our enerprise to develop the spectacular affiliated site Citi-Revealed which officially launched early in 2011.
