Ride a Real Train at Parrish Still haven't ridden the train at the Florida Gulf Coast Railroad Museum in Parrish?  Check out the Florida Gulf Coast Railway Museum - All trains depart from Parrish station, off US 301. Rent-a-Locomotive. You run it after instruction. Available by special request. February is the month the steam train returns!

Music on Main Street at Lakewood Ranch First Friday of each month, 6:00 pm-9:00 pm. Free. Food and drinks available for purchase.

Wednesday, October 1

Kids Helping Kids sponsored by Jungle Gardens to benefit local children’s charities.  This program lasts from October 1-30.  Kids age 3-12 receive free admission when they bring a new infant or baby item valued at $3 or more.  Items will be donated to CYESIS of Sarasota County and TAPP in Manatee County.  Call (941) 355-1112 ext. 306.

Friday, October 3

Music On Main, Lakewood Ranch Main Street, 6-9 pm.

First Friday Arts Walk on Palm Avenue, every first Friday until 8 pm.  Enjoy food, wine and music.  All art galleries are open.

Titantic: The Artifact Exhibition. Sunday, October 5

Public Display of Affection, Inc. will hold a Reggae Oktoberfest from 2 – 6 pm at the Gold Coast Eagle Distributor Facility, 7501 Wireless Ct. in Lakewood Ranch.  The event will benefit the Humane Society of Sarasota County and its Pet Therapy Program.  Call (941) 809-6351.

Tuesday, October 7

Serendipity will host the Suncoast Communities Blood Bank Blood Drive from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm.  Donors will receive a complimentary day pass to Serendipity and a health screening.  Call (941) 922-1591, ext. 221.

San Marco Plaza will host Festa Italiana, an Italian Festival featuring an Italian market, live music, food and performances from 11 am to 8 pm at 8215 Naures Way in Lakewood Ranch.
